Providence College Associate Vice President/Athletics Director Robert G. Driscoll, Jr. announced that Head Women's Ice Hockey Coach Bob Deraney has signed a multi-year contract extension to remain with the Friars through 2013. Driscoll made the announcement on Tuesday, July 15.

Providence College Associate Vice President/Athletics Director Robert G. Driscoll, Jr. announced today (July 16, 2008) that Jill LaPoint has been promoted to Executive Associate Athletic Director. LaPoint joined the College in 2000 as Associate Athletic Director/Senior Woman Administrator. In 2006, she was promoted to Associate AD for Administration.

Fourth-year Providence College head women's basketball coach Phil Seymore, today (July 15, 2008), announced the hiring of Morra Gill as assistant coach. Gill joins the Friars after spending the 2007-08 season at Morehead State as the Operations Coordinator for women's basketball.

The Olympic Games are the pinacle of sporting excellence, where athletes from all over the world compete for a chance to win a medal. Three former Friar track and field stars, Kim Smith '05 (Aukland, New Zealand), Roisin McGettigan '03 (Wicklow, Ireland) and Martin Fagan '07 (Mullingar, Ireland) each have earned themselves a trip to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games August 8-24.
